God is in the business of rescuing & healing people from the darkest chapters of their lives. There is no chapter, however dark and painful in our lives, that God cannot brighten with the light of his grace and love. The psalmist David wrote: “He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder” (Psalms 107:14 KJV). As I reflect on the meaning of this text, a clear path of restoration and rescue becomes clear. First, God brings us out of darkness, then he He delivers us out of the shadow of death, then finally breaks the fetters or shackles that have had us bound. Just exactly where we do not expect to find light, is precisely the place where God chooses to cause it to shine. When Light Shines in Darkness, it means God has stepped in and commanded a change in our lives for something better. The darkness pervading our previous experience will retreat before the advancing brightness of God's grace!
